What does EOT mean, in terms of railroads?
EOT stands for “End of train.” Generally refers to an EOT Device, which is an electronic box that hangs on the last coupler of the train and connects to the train air brake line. It contains electronics that report the position of the rear end of the train, as well. It thereby takes part of the role that used to be done by the rear-end crew in the caboose.
