What does everyone think of controlled crying/comforting?

Learning how to self soothe is a milestone every baby needs to reach. Just like a baby has to be taught how to sit or crawl, they also have to be taught how to put themselves to sleep or comfort themselves in certain situations. There’s absolutely no harm in letting a baby cry at this age. I think too many people get the perception that those who let their babies cry are just abandoning their infants to scream their lungs out, but it’s nothing like that. All you’re doing is giving them a few minutes at a time to learn how to soothe themselves and going back in every few minutes to comfort and reassure them. We did this with all 4 of our kids and they have all been tremendous sleepers since about 4-5 months old.
