What does EVOLUTIONARY PSYCHOLOGY suggest in relation to adaptation and survival???
Evolutionary psychology suggests that living things adapt in order to increase the chance of survival of the species. This means that species actually change how they behaved previously to better the life of the species. This is not an instant thing, rather it takes thousands of years. Deer show a perfect example of adaptive behavior. Deer have programmed to stop as soon as they sense danger in the wild. This behavior is becoming less adaptive now that humans have taken over the world. This explains why a deer stands still when confronted by the headlights of a car. Evolutionary psychologists feel that given time, deer may readapt themselves to run in the face of danger. This is an example of how a species changes their behvior over time, due to environment.
