Unlike other vegetable oils, absolutely no solvent is used in the palm oil extraction process. The extraction process – known as expeller press or cold press – is similar to the one used to extract virgin olive oil. The process basically involves squeezing the oil from the palm fruitlets and carefully washing the extracted oil to remove non-oil matters such as fibers without loosing the desirable phytonutrients such as carotenes and Vitamin E.
