Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is the primary investigative arm of the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), serving as both a federal criminal investigative body and a domestic intelligence agency. At present, the FBI has investigative jurisdiction over violations of more than 200 categories of federal crimes, making the FBI the de-facto lead law enforcement agency of the United States government.[2] The motto of the bureau is "Fidelity, Bravery, Integrity." The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is a civilian intelligence agency of the United States government. Its primary function is collecting and analyzing information about foreign governments, corporations, and persons in order to advise public policymakers.  more

Federal Bureau of Investigations. Started by J Edgar Hoover in 1934. CIA is different because it focues externally on foriegn affairs where as FBI is local to USA investigations. Since 9/11 the 2 organizations have coordinated efforts but mostly just to share information that the other may deem useful in its investigations.  more
