What does intellectual development involve?
Basically it means “learning Stuff”. The precise content of the concept “intellectual development” will depend on the age & circumstances of the child in question. Activities that plainly involve intellectual development are things like: (a) learning to talk (b) learning to read (c) learning to categorise things (d) learning to generalise concepts (e) learning to tell lies You can probably think of more. But these clearly cerebral activities are not the only ones that require at least some degree of intellectual development. A very young child who is just starting to crawl is learning & improving their motor skills. But this involves more than just physical development & the improvement won’t advance very far unless there is also intellectual development.
