What does it mean “fluent in french” for Air Canada requirements for flight attendant?
I don’t work for air canada, but I am a flight attendant. At my airline, if you are applying for a bilingual position, the entire interview is in that language, as well as the written test. The interviewer will ask many questions that you will only be able to answer if you have read and written the language for many years. You have to be able to understand, and respond as if it is your primary language. A friend applied having taken German throughout high school and 4 years in college, but because she hadn’t actually any experience speaking to German people or had visited Germany, she wasn’t comfortable in conversation and therefore didn’t get the position. You will be answering questions and translating for many people who speak nothing but French and as one of the others stated, you need to be able to think and respond in French in the event of an emergency to save lives. It will take a lot of hard work but will be worth it if you are able to do any international travel. Good luck!
