It isn’t a good sign. Many times it can be hereditary. This illness does seem to run in families. Researchers aren’t sure if it is something in the genes, or simply because families tend to have the same life style. Either eating foods high in fat, or being sedentary.

High cholesterol isn’t anything to take lightly. It can lead to heart problems, and stroke. Not to alarm you, but to teach you a way to change the outcome.

Medicine is a way to lower cholesterol. Many doctors use statins to do this. With the many side affects and warnings about these drugs, many are looking for alternatives.

Natural alternatives include beta glucan, which collects the bad cholesterol, and removes it from the body. Oatmeal is an example,  but there are supplements available. Another well studied supplement is red yeast rice. Shown to reduce bad cholesterol as well as the statins.

High blood pressure usually goes hand in hand with high cholesterol. Again, it can be controlled with medication. The alternative supplement is celery seed. Results were seen in one week.

Along with a healthy diet, they have been shown to reduce bad cholesterol. Reduce salt, high fat foods, fried foods, and dairy. Include fiber rich food, such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Include cinnamon in the diet, shown to also reduce cholesterol.

I have written an article that goes into depth on the subject matter. https://hubpages.com/health/Heart-Health-Natural-Supplements-to-lower-Cholesterol-Blood-Pressure-and-Improve-Circulation

I hope this helps to understand your condition. I wish you good luck, and hope that future readings are lowered. Before embarking on any regimine be sure to discuss your options with your doctor or pharmacist. Do not combine any supplement with medication, an interaction is possible with these combinations. Always discuss with your doctor and pharmacist all medications, vitamins and supplements.

Hi! Normal levels are less than 150 mg/dL your level is borderline high is just starting and not worried can be treated with medicine and also changing life style.

The triglycerides are a type of fat is produced by our body in the intestine and in the liver.

Glycerin and fatty acids are the main fuels that provide energy to cells, which depend on triglyceride levels. The combination of poor eating habits, with lack of exercise, is what often causes dyslipidemias.

Is very common when you are not careful with the diet.

A diet rich in saturated fats and carbohydrates is an important risk factor for hypertriglyceridemia. People with elevated triglycerides should avoid

– Soda or any other drink rich in sugar.
– Alcoholic drinks.
– Sweet.
– Chocolate.
– Bread.
– Biscuits.
– Folders.
– Pizzas.
– Dad.
– Ice creams.
– Frozen yogurt.
– Pies.
– Whole milk.
– Fry.
– Fatty cheeses.

It can have several causes:

Over weight

Triglycerides generally increase as weight increases

Excessive calorie consumption

Triglycerides rise as you gain weight or eat too many calories, especially from sugar and alcohol. Alcohol increases the production of triglycerides in the liver. The Mediterranean diet is ideal for lowering your triglycerides.
Age

Triglyceride levels increase regularly with age.
Medicines

Some drugs such as birth control, steroids and diuretics cause increased levels of triglycerides. Diuretics are used to remove excess water in the body through urine.
Diseases

Diabetes, hypothyroidism, kidney and liver disease are associated with high triglyceride levels.

When diabetes is not controlled, it can increase your triglyceride levels. Triglycerides can decrease to normal levels if the blood sugar level is lowered.

Among the groups that need to be more vigilant about their triglyceride levels are diabetics and postmenopausal women. More than 75% of diabetics have high triglyceride levels and 30% of women who have gone through menopause suffer from this same problem.

Heritage

Some types of high triglyceride levels occur among members of the same family.
