What does liberal and reasonable visitation mean?
It means that you and the child’s other parent need to speak to each other to allow access. It means that you both should strive to be flexible within reason. Over the years, though, I’ve learned some of the manipulative ways that people can misuse liberal visitation. I think that some people have to be told that visitation does not include; calling the child at 2:00 am, one cannot expect visitation in the middle of a school day without notice, one cannot expect to come over unannounced and pick the child up out of the backyard without prior notice, one cannot break up a birthday party demanding visitation without prior notice, Liberal visitation does allow each parent the opportunity to plan for spur of the moment activities (unexpected events, baseball games, picnics) that fall outside of normal visitation hours.
