A. In Washington a massage therapist is referred to as a “licensed massage practitioner (LMP).” In most other states, they are considered a “licensed massage therapist (LMT).” A massage practitioner provides massage and hydrotherapy. Unless licensed in an appropriate field to do so, massage practitioners do not diagnose injury or prescribe medications of any kind, prescription or otherwise.
