Progesterone does not help you ovulate. It helps after you ovulate, by giving you the hormone necessary to make the uterine lining rich and thick and hospitable for implantation and nurturing a pregnancy. Progesterone is a natural hormone that occurs after ovulation. It builds up in the two weeks after the ovulation; if there is no implantation, your progesterone level goes back down, the lining sheds, and you start over again. If you continue progesterone, you may not get a period at all, and you will not ovulate because progesterone makes your body thing it’s pregnant already.
