Standalone viewing is when you view the video file in its native application. This means that when the video is clicked, upon either the QuickTime or Windows Media Player application is opened and then the video is viewed from there. Embedded viewing is when you view the video within the unitedstreaming application in the customized player on the left-hand side of the web page.
