What does the 1st verse of Nirvanas – Lithium mean?
Lithium treats bipolar mood disorder, also called manic depression. The first verse describes some of the symptoms of severe bipolar, especially in the manic phase, which are hearing voices in the mind, feeling a special connection with or understanding of God, paranoia (I’m not scared) triggered by normal things – but which the person feels is significant, and sometimes self hatred and self loathing (I’m so ugly and breaking the mirrors) are part of the low side of bipolar.
