The flashing X means you have no wireless connectivity on your device. If you see one, two, or three dots in your title bar ( ), this means your device is attempting to connect to the GPRS network. Specifically: One dot means the device is connecting to the GPRS network. Two dots mean that the username/password is being authenticated by the wireless carrier’s data network. Three dots mean that the device is connected to the data service. The “G” means data connectivity has taken place and the device is pulling wireless data to the device.
