What does the law say regarding job adverts and discrimination?
UK legislation says it is unlawful to publish or cause to be published an advertisement that indicates, or might reasonably be understood to indicate, an intention to discriminate against job applicants on grounds of race, sex or disability. While there is no corresponding express legislative provisions for discrimination on grounds of age, sexual orientation, religion or belief, unsuccessful job applicants will still be able to rely on the fact that an advertisement was discriminatory as evidence that the employer discriminated against them.
