What does the song “sweet and low” by augustana mean?
taken from someone elses answer to this guestion asked by someone else: my take on is he’s become cynical about the world (maybe some bad things happened) but the girl basically gives him hope…and tells him things just happen when he’s found that the world isn’t so bad after all…”when that day comes look into my eyes” then he goes on to say he’ll basically guide her through rough times “carry her home” and that she’s just young and naive then i think he’s talking about personal love experience….and his mother’s experiences that apparently might have caused her so much stress that she well…you know… but all in all it’s about a sweet and low girl that he apparantly must care about… he even wrote her a song…
