What does the yellow star next to a language means in Wikipedia?
It means it’s a featured article in another language’s Wikipedia. For example, the article on Snow has yellow stars next to Latina (Latin), Norsk (Norwegian), and Suomi (Finnish), meaning that they’re featured articles in those languages. A Featured Article means that the article has passed a review process to ensure that the article is the highest-quality article that Wikipedia can offer. Each of those Wikipedia projects has their own review process, and since each Wikipedia project has a different version of the article, an article featured in one language may not be featured in another. For example, the English-language Wikipedia article on Minnesota is a featured article, having gone through the review process. It’s also featured in Spanish, but that article had a different review process on that encyclopedia.
