What engine oil should i use in my 1981 suzuki gsx 1100?
Any name brand 10W40 motorcycle oil. Don’t use regular automotive oil. Make sure it is motorcycle oil. Motorcycle oil will have additives that are wet clutch friendly. Also, the oil in a motorcycle will usually be hotter than the oil in a car or truck. Motorcycle oil will have additives that deal better with the higher operating temperature. You will find that motorcycle oil costs more than automotive oil. You can buy your oil from a motorcycle dealer. But you will find like anything else, you will pay top dollar at the dealer. Try looking at your local automotive parts store. Many of the major chain stores will have a motorcycle section where you can find motorcycle oil. Synthetic oil is really not needed unless your owner’s manual specifically requires it. It is doubtful a motorcycle this old requires synthetic motor oil. If you use synthetic oil, as with regular oil, you must use synthetic oil specifically designed for use in a motorcycle. If you don’t, you can destroy your clutch.
