What European countries had opening weekends for Fashionista Bruno as tops of the box office for Number One?
Comic film Bruno has entered the UK and Ireland box office at number one, taking £4.9m in its opening weekend. The movie, starring Sacha Baron Cohen as the outrageous Austrian fashion reporter, knocked Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs from the top spot. But the family animation held its own, taking £4.75m in its second week. The only other new entry was Bollywood film Shortkut, which debuted at 10, just behind Indian movie Kambakkhtat Ishq, which slipped two places. Alternative version The top five films, incuding Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen at three, bachelor caper The Hangover in fourth spot and Public Enemies at five, each made in excess of £1m. Tearjerker My Sister’s Keeper, Year One and Night At The Museum 2 held the lower positions in the countdown. Bruno also outperformed Ice Age at the US box office, where it made more in its opening weekend than Cohen’s previous comedy film, Borat.
