What evidence is there against the chemiosmosis theory?

Not sure what level you are working at but their is nothing yet to “disprove” it. There is however evidence that cannot currently be reconciled with it. This mainly focuses on transmembrane potential, none of the studies using microelectrodes have been able to a big enough potential difference. This is unlikely to however to result in the theory being thrown out at the gross level, it will probably result in some fine level mechanistic tweaking.
