What exactly does the police dept do when you file an adult missing persons report?
First, a general incident report is taken. Second, a missing persons file packet is filled out with the missing persons information. Third, that information is entered into the N.C.I.C. (national crime information center) computer. Any agency in the US, Canada and certain oversees agencies that happen to run the name or other info of the missing party through N.C.I.C. will get a ‘Hit’. They will then notify the agency that entered the information into the computer to verify if it is the person that is actually missing.
