Waste diversion means minimizing waste sent to landfill. This is done by reducing, reusing and recycling. Reducing your garbage means buying reusable items and products with minimal packaging. Re-using items where possible or donating your old things to charities also diverts material from landfills. Recycling means placing items into your blue and black box instead of the garbage and composting your organic materials. The more you do these things the more you are diverting waste from landfills.
