What exactly is Brent Crude?

Brent is in the North Sea. This is where Brent crude comes from. I think it is comparitively light and only of use for certain use, unlike West Texas or the heavier oils which can be cracked into oil, petrol and lots of other by-products.The two prices vary in respect to each other and one can go up while the other goes down depending on supply and demand for a particular base oil. When you hear people talking about the price of oil going up or down they are usually referring to West Texas crude. But as long as you are not mixing different grades up then you should know where you are. The heavier crudes are almost like tar, they take a lot of refining but there are more products available from them.
