CBI = continous bladder irrigation I’ve seen it used to prevent large clots or break down large clots in the bladder that may cause outlet obstruction. I’m no expert, so I can’t speak of the indications and contraindications specifically. Usually, a multi-lumen catheter is placed with a saline solution placed at an appropriate level (so as not to rupture the bladder with excess pressure) and the outlet is drained to gravity.
