I would expand your palm list, if you've space/interest, as most of your current palms I can grow in the midlands, England. I also have Butia capitata and the Mexican blue fan palm - Brahea armata, which has beautiful silver blue large leaves (larger than the chamaerops Morrocan blue variety. You could also try phoenix roebelenii, which is a little less hardy than your canariensis, but is attractive, especially as a clumping group. Another interesting palm is Parajubaea torallyi, which is hardy to a few degrees below freezing. I'd also go for some good flowering specimens, as well as more jungle effect leaves. Acacias are fairly easy, and many are borderline hardy, with choice of the variety of flowers and foliage colouring to suit yourself. The Ariod family also offers some huge leaved plants, such as Alocasias and Colocasias. There's a huge range of these, with varied leaf shapes and colours, as well as heights.
