What fiber is used?
Three types of fiber exist: nylon, fibrillated fibers and monofilament fibers. Nylon pitches are normally only water pitches. Our DD Action Turf was a similar product. Main references: the Dutch and Belgian national hockey stadiums, the Wagenaar stadium and the largest pitches of the most important clubs in The Netherlands, United Kingdom and Belgium. Fibrillated fibers, polypropylene and polyethylene were developed during the Eighties. After some time, the vertical wear structure of fibrillated sand-filled pitches causes a loss of grip, water permeability and hardness. Examples are the S-forte fiber, and almost all other fibers on the market. Monofilament fibers were developed during the Nineties and have a horizontal wear pattern. They have been developed with the structure of natural grass in mind. Thanks to its unique wear pattern, it retains its grip and water permeability and hardens less quickly.
