My 6 month old has been prescribed lactulose and glycerine suppositires but I’m like you – I’d prefer to do it through diet. I add prunes into a lot of what he eats – I blend them and stir them into his porridge. I also use pears a lot, either stewed or blended raw and added to things. Stewed plums are also good. If she likes yoghurt and fromage frais, try misxing any of the above into it for her to help. Or just a dessert of prunes and pears! Lentils can also help – red split lentils cook easily and can be added to a lot of foods – annabel karmel has a good lentil recipe. If all else fails, get a nice juicy orange and squeeze it straight into her water (not the whole thing) I am told this is a miracle cure but I haven’t tried it myself as my son won’t drink anything but milk yet! I’m told dried apricots can also help – I’m going to buy some tomorrow as a new thing to add to his porridge!
