What foods should I avoid while pregnant?

Aside from the ones you mentioned, you will get different answers depending on the source…. Some professionals say that you should stay away form things like deli meats because of the high levels of nitrates and, in the instance of freshly sliced ones, the high content of bacteria. Hot dogs and other processed meats have high nitrate levels as well. Raw fish, etc should obviously be avoided, and cooked meat should be prepared a bit more carefully, ensuring the proper internal temps. Some doctors will recommend no caffeine, but usually the equivilant of about 1-3 cups of coffee is considered just fine. For me personally, I tried to avoid spicy foods or one that have lots of acid in them (oranges, tomatoes, etc) because they gave me horrible heartburn. Hope that helps, and wishing you a happy and healthy nine months!!
