What format is used in the Copa Santander Libertadores?
In the Groups Round the two best teams are determined by the following criteria in order of importance: 1) Most Number of Points; 2) Best Goal Differential; 3) More goals scored; 4) More goals scored as the away team; 5) Draw For every knockout round, except the Finals, the 4 first criteria listed above will be used. If a winner still can’t be determined a penalty shootout will decide which club will move to the next round of Copa Libertadores. For the Finals the first criterion in most number of points, then goal differential if a tie still happens the teams will play a 30 minute extra-time and if necessary the Copa Libertadores Chamions will be decided in a penalty shootout.
