What functions a Building Inspector of the Home Building Service have under the HBA?

0

The Home Building Service deals with disputes relating to incomplete and/or defective home building work. Upon notification of a dispute, a Building Inspector will be assigned to meet with the owner-builder and the contract builder or tradesperson on site, inspect the complaint items and attempt to resolve the dispute. Where defective or incomplete work is found to exist, the Inspector may issue a Rectification Order listing the work required to be rectified or completed by the builder or tradesperson and the conditions that both parties are to meet in complying with the Order. However a Rectification Order cannot be made for a building claim over $500,000. A building claim may not be accepted in the CTTT unless it has first been investigated by a Building Inspector.
