What happened September 16 in Philadelphia where a little girl throws a baseball back?”

A 3-year-old girl tossed into the stands the foul ball her dad caught during a Philadelphia Phillies game, and became a media star, her family said. Steve Monforto may be seen yelling “No!” after he handed the ball to his daughter, Emily, and she promptly threw it away at Tuesday’s 5-0 win against the Washington Nationals — as she had been well-trained to do while playing “Phillies” (catch) with her family, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. When the child appeared distressed at his reaction, he recovered himself and reassured Emily that everything was all right, Monforto said. “I was just thinking, ‘Don’t drop this, Steve. Don’t drop this in front of everybody,'” said Monforto, of Laurel Springs, Pa., who is a lifelong Phillies fan. The video clip almost immediately prompted YouTube postings, removed by mlb.com for the clip to have a headline on a separate Web site, the newspaper said.
