What Happened To Gummi Bears?
It’s not just Gummi Bears. Look at the current Toon Disney schedule: Outside of Tale Spin, every Disney Afternoon era show has been shelved in favor or mid 90’s to current day shows and the ever expanding Jetix block. Gummi Bears wasn’t TD’s first victim, though. After GB was gone, they started filtering EVERY 80’s show down, starting with Care Bears and their early weekend morning Dic cartoon block. Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog soon followed, and now 95% of the Disney Afternoon shows. In the next five years, as Kim Possible, Lilo & Stitch, Dave the Barbarian, Brandy & Mr. Whiskers, and every other modern day Disney shows crosses over to Toon Disney, look for Tale Spin, The Weekenders, 101 Dalmations, and Gargoyles (at least Gargoyles will survive on DVD) to go back into the TD vault as well.
