The Strangers is a 2008 horror film written and directed by Bryan Bertino. I suspect it’s fiction just for the movie. I highly doubt that they would write, produce, and film a movie of an unsolved case so close to it happening…unless they put “if you have any information” etc lines everywhere with it. They’re a profit driven market, like everything else. Try searching news articles from that time period. If something truly graphic happened, it would have been picked up by the associated press or something. Maybe I’m wrong, but…I suspect no murder of Kristen McKay and James Hoyt happened on that date.
