Puppies often have these removed because they can catch on things and tear. No doubt she snagged it on something along the trail. The cold alone wouldn’t cause it to bleed. I’ve had some dogs that had them, others didn’t. If it tears and is very minor (otherwise, time for a vet visit) clean it well with hydrogen peroxide and apply antibiotic ointment or silver gel. Or, you can clean the wound and then seal it with Band-Aid brand liquid bandage, which will keep out bacteria and is waterproof. Then gently wrap a Telfa pad over the claw and use vet wrap (also sold as human sports wrap; it sticks only to itself and not hair or skin) to cover the Telfa and the area above and below. Be careful not to wrap tightly, just enough to hold it in place and with no pressure on the dewclaw area itself. Check it daily to clean and bandage with a fresh pad and it heals by itself.
