According to colleague Dr. W. Frank Ainsley, Randall died in 2001 or 2002. Randall taught at the University of North Carolina Wilmington from 1956, when the school was still Wilmington College, until he retired in 1994. Randall was a geographer who taught courses at UNCW that included Introduction to Physical Geography, Economic Geography, Political Geography, Climatology and History of Earth Sciences. His dissertation on the historical geography of Wilmington as a port city was published as an article in the Annals of the Association of American Geographers, Ainsley says. Randall was one of the first faculty members at the college to hold the title “professor emeritus,” UNCW spokeswoman Dana Fischetti says. Randall’s father was William Madison Randall, president of Wilmington College. He retired in 1968 and died in 1984. Randall Library is named for him.
