What happened with MTV and the whole TRL situation?
What happened was that out of nowhere they decided to play the Dear Slim video (my label had sent it in to MTV2 and they were considering it for airplay), they played it up as some controversial song that was a diss on Eminem. They only played one minute of the video and cut it off after the first verse (which is the least spiritual and most controversial verse if it’s not heard in context of the rest of the song). They then proceeded the diss me and say I was nothing more than some emcee trying to make a name off myself by taking a shot at Eminem. After a lengthy internet message board debate on mtv.com and a push to get the video played in entirety that was the end of it, they never let me explain myself or play the whole video.
