You will then go into the bathroom to empty your bladder and undress into a gown. Once back in the treatment room you will lie on a custom treatment table in complete comfort. Your therapist will then explain how the equipment works and the treatment procedure. Before the procedure, the practitioner usually spends some time talking with the patient to explain how colon therapy works and to help him or her feel at ease. Then the patient, dressed in a comfortable, loose-fitting gown or robe, lies in a comfortable position on the back or side, with knees slightly bent. Ordinarily, a large towel is placed over the abdomen and thighs to assure the patient’s comfort and dignity. The therapist then places a sterilized nozzle into the anal opening, sliding it gently into the colon. Through a plastic tube, purified water is gradually introduced into the colon. Some practitioners add herbal solutions to the cleansing water. Although the usual procedure is to keep the water at body temperature, the therapist may choose to vary the temperature slightly for therapeutic reasons. A session is a comfortable experience for many people. The client lies on a massage table, wearing their upper clothing and special perforated shorts (provided), covered by a towel or a sheet. A small, lubricated, disposable speculum with attached water hose and evacuation tube is inserted into the rectum and is connected to the colonic machine. The practitioner will use a gentle bathing cycle and then several filling and emptying cycles. A viewing tube displays all of the waste as it leaves the body. Supplementary techniques and therapeutic implants may be used. Regular treatment time is 45 minutes.
