What happens if a data anomaly is detected by BioSense?
The local or state public health department will take the lead in investigating a statistical anomaly. This may include local public health contacting the data source and identifying specific individuals for record retrieval and case follow-up. CDC will not contact a hospital directly if a data anomaly is identified, but will be available to assist the local or state health department if necessary.
