Motor vehicle inspection stickers are not transferable to a new owner. When you buy a used car, you must bring the car to get it inspected within seven days of purchasing it. If your vehicle does not pass the Enhanced Emissions & Safety Test, and if the estimated cost of repairs exceeds 10% of the vehicle's purchase price, the state's Lemon Aid Law allows you to void or cancel the sale. Contact the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs for details: 1-888-283-3757.
