What happens if I buy an animal, herd to herd, that already was restricted because it wasn tested in previous 15 months?
• From 5 July if you purchase an animal that has been restricted because it has not been tested in the last 15 months, the restriction will continue to apply. This will restrict the animal in your herd. The animal should have been tested prior to sale. It will be the responsibility of the new herdkeeper to either have the test completed as part of the next scheduled herd test in your herd, or alternatively, have the animal tested privately at their own expense. You may however, send it directly to slaughter in NI at any time. • Warning letters will not be issued to the seller/buyer at present; however a new restriction notice will be issued. This will only apply to that animal and not restrict the whole herd.
