What happens to a navy-mans kid?

Your boyfriend has no clue what he is talking about. By law you don’t “have to” do anything. The only way for you and the kid to live with him onbase is if your married and living in base housing. If you don’t get married he can put the child on his page 2 as a dependant so they will have medical/dental insurance. He can send you a monthly allotment out of his paycheck to support the baby voluntarily or you could take him to court and get the amount determined by the judge. A standard cruise is only 6 months long and I can assure you that we spend time inport and go home to our families.

Nothing will happen to him now, but after the baby’s born you have to get a paternity test complete and he’s obligated to start a child support payment to you if he’s the father even if you’re not married. I hope you’re not pregnant dear, you’re way too young and he’s going to be away often if he’s just starting out in the Navy. Anyway, there’s no law that says the kid can or can’t live with him, but if he’s on a ship or gets deployed he has to have it set up where the kid is taken care of while he does his duty. Single parents in the Navy get kicked out everyday because they can’t find someone to take care of the kid.
