What happens to students in Special Education programs?
It should be noted that the locations of special education programs are reviewed periodically to determine the most appropriate sites to meet student needs. Consideration is being given to relocating several special education programs for 2007-2008. Students in relocated programs could remain with the program at its new location or may be re-assigned to another program/location that would better meet their needs. Assignment of students receiving special education services is based on services stated in the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The medically fragile students at Whitworth are in Low incidence B classrooms that have been specifically designed for their needs. The Orca program is scheduled to move into the Whitworth building, and the medically fragile students will become part of that program.
