What happens to the boreholes after test pumping is completed?

0

Test pumping has already taken place in the 37 towns participating in the project. Any of the “production” bores which sustained reasonable flows during the testing phase, may be considered for longer term groundwater pumping sites in future. The boreholes are now being used to monitor the groundwater levels, water quality, and to assess the long-term effects of townsite salinity management strategies. The boreholes will remain for a number of years so that groundwater can continue to be monitored and managed. Each borehole has been capped and will not be a safety hazard.
