WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A PARK OWNER ISSUES A RENT INCREASE THAT EXCEEDS THE ALLOWED CPI INCREASE?

0

Under the County ordinance park owners are allowed to increase the space rent not more than once in any twelve (12) month period, by 100% of the CPI. When a park owner issues a space rent increase notice that exceeds 100% of the CPI, but is less than 300% of the CPI, the ordinance requires a Meet and Confer Meeting in the Offices of the Sonoma County Community Development Commission. The meeting must be held within seven (7) working days of issuance of the rent increase notice. At the meeting representatives of the park owner and the tenants will have the opportunity to exchange documents that will support their respective positions in arbitration and to discuss the issues in dispute. If the park owner does not provide the minimum information required by the ordinance or fails to appear at the meet and confer meeting, the Clerk shall suspend further processing of the space rent increase application.
