When AHRC becomes aware that a person or clinic may be contravening the Act or regulations related either to a controlled or prohibited activity, AHRC will collect appropriate information to determine whether a contravention may have occurred. If the offence involves a controlled activity (defined in sections10 to13 of the AHRAct), AHRC will bring the non-compliance issue to the attention of the person or clinic, instruct that corrective action be taken, and, where appropriate, monitor the action taken. Where there is accurate and reliable information that an offence involves a prohibited activity (defined in sections5 to9 of the AHRAct) may have been committed, AHRC will refer the matter to the RCMP for their consideration. If a complaint results in the RCMP launching an investigation, AHRC will inform the person making the complaint about the outcome of the investigation and the action taken.
