What happens when all the stars in the universe burn out?
One of two things: One: the universe collapses into a tiny microscopic singularity and then explode into the big bang all over again starting a new universe. In the process of this collapse, it is quite possible that all the matter in the universe begins to form new stars that ignite with a much more ferocious reaction that the stars now. Stars now convert Hydrogen into Helium. Stars of the future could convert Helium into Carbon (or even more complicated reactions) Two: It gets very dark.
