What hard drives are used in the TTB volumes?
Initially we used 500 GB ultra ATA drives. Presently, the project is now focusing on a single-drive configuration based around 1 TB SATA hard drives. Unless a specific hardware manufacturer wants to sponsor us, we simply opt for the best sale prices we can find. In the most recent version, we have moved to Western Digital 1TB 2.5″ drives in the “Passport” external model. These new drives come laden with awful software and cause a number of headaches, but until WD gets their act together or another vendor offers a similar product, we’re stuck with that it would seem.
