Students may graduate from Santa Monica College with the Associate in Arts Degree if they have satisfactorily completed 60 units of degree applicable coursework and they have met the subject requirements of their major and general education with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher. At least 12 of the 60 units must be earned at SMC. What if I am eligible pending? It means that the award is not confirmed and is dependant upon successful completion of work in progress. Awards are approved or denied after completion of all coursework and after all the grades for the semester have been posted on the students record. This usually happens 3-4 weeks after the end of the semester in which the student has petitioned to graduate.
