What if I have lost my Genographic Project ID (GPID) number?
The Genographic Project is designed to be completely anonymous in order to protect your privacy. As is described in the Genographic Project Terms and Conditions and in the consent form: “You will be unable to access the results of the testing unless you have the number on this form. National Geographic does not have records that would enable us to look up your password if you lose it.” Unfortunately, we have no way to recover your GPID; the only copies are in your test kit and on the sample tubes. Furthermore, since we do not know which sample is yours, we are unable to deactivate your old GPID and remove your sample from the testing queue and will therefore still go through the costly process of testing and analysis. Under these circumstances, however, you may purchase a one-time discounted replacement kit for U.S. $65 plus shipping and handling (with proof of purchase of the original kit). If you would like to purchase a replacement kit, please email the request with the following in
