First of all, it must be determined whether the water is pit water or actual groundwater.If it is determined not to be groundwater (i.e., it is pit water). it must be removed and disposed of properly. If the water is determined to be groundwater, then a downgradient groundwater sample may need to be collected in order to determine if contamination has migrated to points beyond the confines of the tank pit.
